Position Overview

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity to join the Brooklyn Museum as an Architectural Project Manager. The Museum is embarking on a comprehensive initiative involving renovations, construction, and energy-efficient upgrades to align its physical space with its forward-looking vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Museum Architect and Capital Projects Executive in the design and execution of planning and construction initiatives, including:
  • Programming and conceptual assessments
  • Creation of presentations and visual renderings
  • Strategic project planning and phasing
  • Design and documentation of construction projects through all stages
  • Review and documentation of existing conditions
  • Oversee construction administration tasks from bidding to project completion
  • Assist in space planning and project management for capital projects, including transitional arrangements during renovations
  • Manage drawing archives and electronic files for facilities management and planning
  • Support various research and design initiatives
  • Present innovative ideas, ensure appropriate follow-up, and make necessary adjustments
  • Coordinate activities of other departments involved in the projects
  • Provide essential drawings, building data, and documentation for Operations and Logistics
  • Ensure the safety and protection of all Museum buildings, collections, personnel, visitors, and equipment
  • Assist with fire and safety functions as required

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a minimum of 5 years of professional experience encompassing all project phases, including programming, conceptual design, trade coordination, documentation, and construction administration. Familiarity with art exhibition spaces, public circulation, and historic buildings is essential.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for building consensus among diverse stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate teamwork, personal initiative, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

Experience with construction documents, sustainable building practices, existing conditions surveys, and graphic design is preferred. Proficiency in Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Revit, FormIt), Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
