EMTs and Paramedics are responsible for ensuring safe transport and delivering high-quality medical assistance to patients in need, adhering to state EMS regulations.
Superior Ambulance is committed to providing exceptional care during emergencies and scheduled medical transfers.Key Responsibilities:
The primary functions and duties of the Advanced Critical Care Paramedic include, but are not limited to the following:
- Deliver top-notch medical care to patients in transit, following directives from the Program Medical Director and collaborating with referring and/or receiving Physicians in line with Critical Care protocols and standards.
- Independently assess critically ill or injured patients across all age groups (from pediatric to adult), administer therapeutic and emergency interventions, and prepare for transport (by ground or air) from healthcare facilities or accident sites.
- Work collaboratively with team members, including drivers, colleagues, leadership, other healthcare professionals, and clients.
- Monitor and identify changes in patient conditions, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing patient and family concerns.
- Organize and prepare equipment and supplies for emergency use before, during, and after transport.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation, engage in quality assurance initiatives, conduct data collection, and participate in special projects.
- Uphold clinical proficiency across all areas of the Critical Care Division's practice, including care for patients experiencing neurological, cardiac, pediatric, obstetrical, traumatic emergencies, and other patient populations transported by the Critical Care Division.
- Fulfill all physical demands of the role in confined spaces and challenging environmental conditions.
- Ensure timely completion of transports initiated within the scheduled shift, recognizing that this may require extending beyond regular working hours.
- Participate in all mandatory educational programs, including didactic, clinical, and lab training, while maintaining all necessary certifications and licenses.
- Demonstrate clinical competency in all critical care procedures and equipment, including but not limited to ventilators, IV pumps, dopplers, chest tubes, hemodynamic monitoring, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, ventricular assist devices, Impella cardiac assist devices, transcutaneous/transvenous pacers, external ventricular drains, and advanced airway management.
- Complete and maintain up-to-date training in all safety protocols as required by Superior Ambulance and its healthcare partners.
- Exhibit effective communication skills with all stakeholders, including patients and their families, hospital personnel, the community, other Superior Ambulance staff, and Critical Care administration. Represent the CCT program and Superior Ambulance with professionalism.

OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications ENTRY-LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED * Minimum of 2 years of Advanced Life Support (ALS) experience * State EMT-P License * AHA BLS Certification DESIRED * National Registry Paramedic Certification * ACLS, PALS, NRP, & Trauma (PHTLS, ITLS) Certifications * FEMA Certifications (100, 200, 700, 800, HazMat) * CCEMTP Certification or completion of Critical Care Paramedic course with 12 hours of CCT Continuing Education annually * Critical Care Transport Board Certification (FP-C or CCP-C) * Experience with ventilators, IV pumps, & chest tubes * Leadership experience (e.g., FTO, PIC, Preceptor, Supervisor) EXPECTATIONS FOR FURTHER TRAINING (SPONSORED) * ACLS, PALS, NRP, Trauma (PHTLS or ITLS), & FEMA (100, 200, 700, 800, HazMat) Certifications * System entry into local EMS System * Expanded Scope ALS Training Program * Critical Care Paramedic Training Program (CCP or CCEMTP) * Ongoing Critical Care Continuing Education
