Job Title: Banquet Captain

ASM Global is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team at the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Job Summary:

The Banquet Captain will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of banquets and events, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and execute banquets and events, ensuring timely setup, service, and breakdown.
  • Supervise and train food and beverage servers, cashiers, and temporary labor.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient service, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager and Supervisor to achieve event goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Monitor and control costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, providing timely and relevant information to management.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in banquet service, preferably in high-volume banquets or restaurants.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of banquet event orders (BEOs) and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds and stand for long periods, with good manual dexterity and balance.
Working Conditions:

The Banquet Captain will work in a fast-paced environment, with varying schedules and hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position requires reliable transportation and the ability to report to work as scheduled.

Education and/or Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in banquet service. Knowledge of BEOs and ability to maintain accurate records is also preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to use and maintain basic food service and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Computer Skills:

Ability to operate a cash register and credit card machine, with knowledge of point-of-sale systems.

Physical Demands:

The Banquet Captain will be required to stand for long periods, lift 45 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks, with good manual dexterity and balance.
