Job Summary
The Agricultural Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate application of herbicides and pesticides to labeled crops, adhering to recommendations provided by the leader. This role involves operating and maintaining applicator equipment, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks. A Class A CDL is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Mix and apply pesticides, fertilizers, and chemicals according to established protocols.
- Accurately record and maintain log books for applied acres.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on application equipment.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain pesticide applicator licensure.
- Attend equipment workshops and training sessions.
- Perform maintenance on other equipment and facilities as needed.
- Work flexible hours, including nights, overtime, and weekends during peak seasons.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the leader.
- Attend work regularly and maintain a high level of attendance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience operating large equipment is necessary.
- Must be at least 18 years old to operate company equipment and/or drive a company vehicle.
- A Class A CDL is required for this position.
- Pass a drug test and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Agricultural background and knowledge of ag pesticides.
- Basic knowledge of field maps and tractor-mounted field computers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
At Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC, safety is our top priority. We strive to maintain a safe work environment by implementing extensive safety measures and protocols. This position involves working in a typical warehouse and distribution environment with moderate to loud noise levels. The employee will regularly work near moving equipment and mechanical parts, and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, and electrical shock. The position requires the ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds and to use hands for various tasks.
