Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Admissions Counselor to join our team at Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Inc. in Norfolk, VA. As an Admissions Counselor, you will play a critical role in supporting the outreach and admissions process for our Job Corps program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach and direct recruitment activities to identify potential students and promote our program.
  • Interface with other outreach contractors and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Determine student qualifications for enrollment and ensure compliance with government and management directives.
  • Model and mentor excellence in the eight Career Success Standards, including workplace relations and ethics, information management, and personal growth and development.
  • Develop and maintain linkages with referral sources, such as colleges, school districts, and human services agencies, to identify potential students and conduct outreach activities.
  • Interview potential candidates to obtain information to support eligibility and complete applicant folders.
  • Follow up on student progress, including length of stay and separation, and coordinate with center staff as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with center staff, students, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful admissions process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field.
  • Associate's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field, and 2 years of related experience.
  • Valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
