**Job Summary**

McLaren Lapeer Region is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and timely laboratory results to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Conduct a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to analyze body fluids, tissues, and cells to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Analyze blood cells, including counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.
  • Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
  • Process, read, and report cultures from various sources, as well as antibiotic sensitivities and other microbiology procedures.
  • Ensure the operation of laboratory equipment, including calibrating, completing preventive maintenance requirements, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and expediting orders.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, chemistry, or a related biological science field.
  • MLS certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • MT/MLS certification.
