The Data Privacy & Protection Manager/VP operates within the Chief Operating Office (COO) of the Global Finance sector. The COO's mission includes spearheading transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and overall returns. Within this framework, the Finance division is tasked with supporting a comprehensive effort to fortify the firm's data privacy, modernize its data systems, and streamline the data operational model while aligning with the strategic objectives of the organization.

The Chief Data Office (CDO) is responsible for establishing and enforcing data-related policies and standards across the organization, equipping various business units with the necessary tools to ensure accountability and governance in data management. The CDO consists of four key functional groups: Business Aligned Data Leads, Core Data Delivery, Data Enablers, and Data Functions & Partners.

The Data Privacy & Protection Manager/VP is charged with the responsibility of defining and operationalizing policies, standards, controls, and monitoring metrics/processes. This role sets minimum requirements for Finance's compliance with Data Privacy & Protection policies and standards, while also providing enterprise tools and solutions to enhance compliance oversight, minimize manual processes, and embed data privacy and protection principles from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with second line of defense (2LOD) stakeholders to ensure adherence to established Enterprise Data Privacy & Protection obligations through defined Policies and Standards;
  • Oversee compliance with these Policies and Standards, managing any exceptions that arise;
  • Administer delivery obligations in accordance with the Tier 1 Regulation Ownership and Accountability Framework;
  • Manage Finance's segment of the Enterprise Privacy data inventory, strategic governance metrics, and related tools;
  • Work alongside 2LOD stakeholders to monitor relevant regulatory changes and facilitate necessary impact assessments for Finance;
  • Identify and resolve complex challenges for Finance by analyzing existing processes and proposing enhancements;
  • Utilize specialized knowledge of Data Privacy laws and regulations to advise Finance leadership and senior governance forums;
  • Contribute to the overarching strategy for Data Privacy standards on behalf of Finance, coordinating with regional and local teams to ensure compliance during review cycles;
  • Establish and implement processes and procedures for Finance to adopt Citi's Data Privacy policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations;
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, potentially assisting in communications with external partners;
  • Execute and advocate for a governance framework for Data Privacy across the Finance division, promoting a culture of compliance and accountability;
  • Implement enterprise-wide risk reduction metrics and reporting frameworks, fostering a culture of Data Privacy throughout Finance;
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and implement effective solutions;
  • Ensure adherence to data protection and privacy regulations through established practices;
  • Communicate the significance of Data Privacy and its implications for Finance to relevant stakeholders;
  • Assist in creating tools, training materials, templates, and resources to support data privacy compliance within Finance;
  • Review Finance and business processes to ensure best practices in handling personal information;
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on privacy and data protection risks, mitigation strategies, and compliance activities for Finance;
  • Monitor corrective actions and related remediation plans for Finance.
Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, SAS, SQL, and Visual Basic is advantageous; 5+ years in financial services is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.
  • Strong organizational and influencing skills are essential.
  • Experience in third-party vendor management is preferred, with a proven ability to lead global team initiatives.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic process improvements.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
