- Operates specialized ventilatory equipment in both critical and non-critical care environments, assisting physicians as needed.
- Administers prescribed medication treatments and therapies according to physician directives and established protocols.
- Maintains and troubleshoots respiratory equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
- Educates patients on therapy goals, techniques, and self-care strategies.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient management and care delivery.
- Adapts to various service areas under physician guidance, ensuring compliance with policies and performance standards.
- Exhibits strong communication skills, providing clear and timely patient handoffs.
- Promotes safety culture by identifying potential risks and implementing corrective measures.
- Facilitates training and mentorship for new staff and students.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific care requirements, ensuring appropriate treatment based on patient demographics.
Licensure and Certification:
- Must possess a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
Education:
Completion of an accredited respiratory care program with at least an associate degree.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making related to patient care.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Ability to build rapport with patients and team members.
