POSITION SUMMARY
As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods in accordance with our company standards and performance expectations. You will also assist in maintaining food costs and ensuring a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times. Your role is essential in maximizing guest satisfaction and contributing to a positive work atmosphere as directed by the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Baking: Prepare a range of bakery items following Perkins' standards. Ensure all baked goods are properly labeled and dated, and adhere to food storage protocols to maintain high food safety standards.
  • Display Management: Set up and maintain attractive display cases using effective merchandising techniques. Collaborate with the front-of-house team to create appealing samples and holiday packaging.
  • Sanitation: Follow strict sanitation protocols in all kitchen areas, including walk-ins and storage spaces. Keep bakery preparation and storage areas clean and orderly, and ensure all bakery equipment and utensils are sanitized regularly.
  • Food Preparation: Accurately portion and prepare food items according to established recipes, utilizing FIFO (first in, first out) standards.
  • Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, prep areas, coolers, and storage spaces. Adhere to safety procedures regarding food handling and storage.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the Manager on Duty and fellow team members regarding any product or service issues, equipment concerns, or safety matters.
  • Assistance: Support fellow team members by preparing items according to recipes and assisting with dishwashing and restocking duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
  • Must possess good vision and communication skills.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including heat and cold.
  • Physical mobility and flexibility are essential for navigating the workspace.
  • Must be able to lift and carry trays weighing up to 50 pounds.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING
You will receive guidance and training from the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty regarding specific procedures and responsibilities.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Basic knowledge of sanitation, safety, and customer service practices will be provided through in-house training. Previous experience is not required.
