The Salvation Army is a non-profit organization that provides a range of services to support individuals and families in need. Our Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a no-fee program that helps men and women overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team at our Santee Thrift Store. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and assisting with inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that all customers and donors receive a warm welcome and prompt assistance.
  • Stock and merchandise products on the sales floor, ensuring that all items are accurately priced and displayed.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the store and donation area, including cleaning and organization tasks.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain safety and compliance standards, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Participate in monthly store meetings and contribute to team discussions.
  • Unload and stock incoming inventory items, ensuring that all products are accurately received and processed.
  • Inspect products for defects and damages, and report any issues to management.
  • Assist donors with the removal of donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts.
  • Separate and sort donated materials into the proper containers, and stack materials as instructed by management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to accurately handle point-of-sale operations and cash transactions.
  • Must pass a background check, which includes a criminal history and sex offender registry check.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with management, colleagues, customers, and donors.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Schedule

Our stores operate 7 days per week, and work schedules are determined by management. Part-time associates may be scheduled to work any part-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
