ROLE SUMMARY
The Marine Engineering Supervisor is instrumental in advancing the objectives of the engineering division, managing personnel, and working closely with company leadership. This role emphasizes the application of superior engineering standards and the enforcement of safety protocols for all involved parties.
INTERACTIONS
This position necessitates engagement with both internal and external stakeholders, including company personnel, management, executives, industry experts, and external consultants.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee annual maintenance and repair planning, including budget management for vessels
- Facilitate crew training to ensure adherence to regulatory standards
- Evaluate required vessel repairs regarding methodology, cost, and timeframes
- Manage routine machinery acquisitions, spare parts inventory, repair documentation, and financial accounts
- Develop and refine vessel maintenance strategies
- Assess damage for insurance purposes and coordinate emergency repairs as necessary
- Lead drydocking initiatives, maintenance activities, and vessel repair projects
- Contribute to daily maintenance schedules and inspections for tugs
- Supervise urgent vessel repairs and deliver training on vessel systems and regulations to engineering staff
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in marine engineering or a related discipline
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in maritime operations
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication capabilities
- Expertise in maritime industry standards and shipyard operations
- Comprehensive understanding of marine labor agreements and maritime legislation
- Proficient in managing vessel budgets and ensuring regulatory compliance
LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS
- Preferred: Merchant Mariner Credential with DDE Unlimited endorsement
- Required: Active driver's license and Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
