Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Senior Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for operating complex technical equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in the Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of complex procedures involving highly specialized equipment, including pulmonary function testing, medical gas administration, and nebulizer therapy.
  • Monitor patient response and make appropriate suggestions to the treatment plan in consultation with interns, residents, attending physicians, and pulmonary physiologists.
  • Support pulmonary clinic in offsite locations and provide education on pulmonary medication usage.
  • Collect quality assurance data and order supplies for the department.
Requirements
  • Two years of college degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC-approved college.
  • One year of in-hospital clinical practice experience or one year in a pulmonary function lab or performing pulmonary function testing.
  • CPFT or RPFT certification required or within six months of hire. BLS and PALS certifications required. CT RRT License required.
Working Conditions

Exposure to respiratory and other pathogens, including drug-resistant strains of tuberculosis and A. Staph, HIV, and hepatitis B. Exposure to blood and body fluids, pentamidine, ribovirin, radiation, and other potentially harmful substances listed in the MSDS.
