Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team at Solaris Paper, Inc. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will utilize your expertise in Lean manufacturing, process engineering, and industrial engineering to optimize production processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect and analyze data to identify process and equipment limitations, and develop and implement improvement projects to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with operators and process technicians to develop, improve, and monitor key procedures, ensuring seamless production operations.
- Assist in the development of Standard Work documents and operator training, and create or assist in the creation of training materials to support knowledge transfer.
- Understand and utilize departmental data management systems to inform decision-making and drive process improvements.
- Identify potential equipment upgrades and work with vendors and suppliers to implement necessary changes, ensuring optimal equipment performance.
- Maintain awareness of equipment maintenance requirements and assist with maintenance planning and Preventive Maintenance programs.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen Weeks and Point Events, to drive process enhancements and identify opportunities for growth.
- Manage special projects, including converting projects that require collaboration with multiple departments and facility locations, and assist with the planning, installation, and start-up of new production equipment.
- Oversee small to medium-sized capital projects, ensuring timely completion and effective resource allocation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university, with a major course of study in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Conversion Engineering; a Graduate degree is strongly preferred.
- 1-5 years of experience in industrial, technical, and/or operational assignments in Pulp and Paper, papermaking, converting, and/or utilities, with a minimum 6-month internship in a manufacturing facility/plant.
- Relevant expertise in manufacturing processes, including Kaizen, Kanban, TPM, Cellular, JIT, and the ability to translate that expertise into cost, quality, and/or capacity improvements.
- Strong experience using manufacturing analysis tools, including SPC, design of experiments, process capability studies, statistical analysis, and Lean.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.
- Mid-Advanced level in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) and budgeting practices.
