Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian/Utility Worker to join our team at the Milwaukee Public Museum. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our visitors and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning and custodial duties, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing surfaces, floors, and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment, including floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and mops.
  • Monitor and maintain the operation of all equipment, including cleaning schedules and repair logs.
  • Safely clean up bio-hazard spills and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Clean and disinfect restroom facilities and maintain a fully stocked supply of towels, soap, and tissue.
  • Set up and take down chairs, tables, and props for internal and external events.
  • Maintain walks, shovel snow, and perform exterior cold weather duties as required.
  • Collect and dispose of rubbish and trash.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous custodial experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
  • Ability to work a forty (40) hour work week and overtime when needed.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds, and/or move up to 100 pounds, and move 500 pounds on a cart.
  • Ability to climb stairs, carry equipment up and down stairs, and safely climb ladders up to 20 feet.
