Key Responsibilities

As a Senior System Planning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future design of the electric power grid while honing your engineering and leadership capabilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting electrical engineering analyses and providing technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system.
  • Implementing effective system modeling and developing tools and procedures for system monitoring and control.
  • Performing system stability assessments and analyzing both simulated and actual operating results.
  • Developing solutions for current and future system stability challenges and reporting findings and recommendations.
Technical Duties

Your technical duties will involve:

  • Designing and executing steady-state and dynamic contingency analyses using power system simulation models under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Running various scenarios and input variations to ensure robust results, analyzing study accuracy, and preparing comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Structuring stability studies to ascertain system operating limits.
  • Assisting in the preparation of study reports for ERCOT management and regulatory entities.
  • Reviewing stakeholder reports for technical accuracy and content.
  • Independently managing assignments and projects, making informed decisions on complex engineering issues.
  • Coordinating and participating in stakeholder meetings, providing presentations, and fostering strong relationships with team members and other departments.
Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

Required Experience:
Experience in the electric utility industry is preferred, particularly in a power system engineering role.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with large-scale dynamic stability analyses using power system simulation tools, programming simulation automation tools (Python), and familiarity with NERC reliability standards is advantageous.

Work Location

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence as needed based on business requirements.
