Job Summary

As a key member of our culinary team, the Sous Chef I plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our food program. This position involves assisting in all aspects of planning, ordering, inventory management, and food preparation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food quality, freshness, and presentation, as well as the ability to motivate and train back-of-house associates to achieve operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and create menus that meet the needs of our clients and customers.
  • Implement new culinary programs and initiatives in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams.
  • Manage cost controls and ensure expenditure is within budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • 5 years of related culinary experience, including 1 year at a management level.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, healthcare, and/or related food service operations.
  • Knowledge of food and industry trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
  • Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification.
  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
