We are seeking a paralegal who will support our litigation lawyers in Consumer Financial Services (CFS) and provide the highest quality of legal assistance to our clients. Our team advises on regulatory matters, assists in the design and documentation of credit products, and represents clients in class actions, government regulatory enforcement proceedings, and other lawsuits nationwide.

Responsibilities:

As a paralegal in our Litigation Department, you will be responsible for managing, organizing, and storing client documents and data; promptly providing this information to internal legal teams; preparing case summaries and updates; drafting pleadings; coordinating docketing deadlines; submitting filings to state and federal courts; and acting as a primary communicator with clients for this information on individual matters.

You will assume responsibility with minimal supervision, exercise initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of your assigned authority. You will have the ability to work individually and as part of a team, and practice collaboration with firm employees across all offices.

Your Role:

As a Paralegal within our Litigation Department, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Organizing and reviewing documents, including identification, redacting, coordinating photocopying/scanning, and proofreading.
  • Utilizing litigation support software such as Relativity and Opus 2 to search for data and organize information for attorneys.
  • Conducting factual research: culling relevant information from a variety of resources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documents, trade associations, etc.
  • Assisting with preparation of motions: collecting relevant documents, assembling exhibits and preparing table of contents.
  • Drafting certain pleadings and responses.
  • Preparing witness binders containing interview memos, digests and relevant documents.
  • Preparing for depositions, hearings and trials: gathering relevant documents and organizing exhibits.
Requirements:

We are looking for energetic, detail-oriented individuals who are able to manage multiple priorities and understand the cycle of a transaction. Proactive self-starters with demonstrated experience maintaining high quality work products in a fast-paced environment and within time constraints are preferred. Strong writing and proofreading skills, oral communication skills, research, organizational and interpersonal skills are required. A proven track record in preparing project schedules and monitoring deadlines and deliverables from various project parties is also necessary.

Four-year college degree preferred, or significant relevant work experience in place of college degree. Prior experience as a paralegal; paralegal certificate required. Previous experience working in a law firm or legal environment required. Demonstrated technology skills including software applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, document management systems and Kofax are required. Must be able to work overtime and travel to client and/or trial sites, as needed.

Time worked in excess of 40 hours per week will be paid at time and one-half of the hourly rate. The salary range for this position is from $95,000 - $110,000 depending upon experience and location.
