Physician Assistant-Palliative Care Fellowship Position

The University of Utah is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in the Division of General Internal Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to patients with serious illnesses.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for providing primary and specialty medical services to patients with serious illnesses. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans, provide education and support to patients and families, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities- Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
- Performs physical examinations.
- Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
- Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
- Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
- Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
- Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
- Assists in the collection of data for research projects.
- Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
- Participates in special projects and committee functions.
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician's Assistant from the State of Utah.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
- Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
- Experience working in a palliative care or hospice setting.
- Knowledge of palliative care principles and practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
