The Staff Clinician position at American University is a key role in promoting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students. As a mental health professional, you will provide professional services, including crisis intervention, clinical intakes, and psychotherapy, to support students in achieving their goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement systems for follow-up with students who have been referred to community resources.
- Assist and support students in accessing community-based outpatient mental health services.
- Provide direct clinical services, such as individual or group counseling, crisis intervention, intakes, and consultations.
- Collaborate with Center staff and campus partners in treatment and disposition planning for students with complex mental health needs.
- Participate in clinical training programs, including trainee selection, presentations, seminars, orientation, supervision, and evaluation.
- Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
- Licensed or license-eligible as an independent mental health practitioner in the District of Columbia at the time of hire.
- 2+ years post-licensure with case management experience in a college/university counseling center.
- Strong professional interest and experience working with a diverse student population.
