Aircraft Maintenance Lead Job Description

Vertex Aerospace LLC is seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Lead to join our team. As an Aircraft Maintenance Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of aircraft, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of aircraft mechanics in the maintenance and repair of aircraft
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans to ensure that all aircraft are airworthy
  • Conduct regular inspections of aircraft and equipment to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all maintenance activities are coordinated and efficient
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure that all necessary parts and materials are available
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure that all team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively
  • Monitor and report on maintenance activities and performance metrics to senior management
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two-year technical trade school, military experience, or equivalent on-the-job training is required
  • Must hold a valid Airframe and Powerplant certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under 14 CFR Part 65
  • Inspector Authorization (IA) is preferred
  • Must have a minimum of three years of hands-on experience as an A&P mechanic on small to medium fixed-wing and light helicopter aircraft
  • Experience leading teams is strongly preferred
  • Experience shall be in a similar position within the last twelve (12) months
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance support for various fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircraft (e.g., Cessna 206/208/King Air series airplanes and Bell 407/412 helicopters)
  • Have basic knowledge of aircraft weight & balance and the ability to make calculations to aircraft weight and balance as required
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, and various test equipment as required
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to retain information and make decisions according to standard policies and procedures
  • Ability to determine workflow to effectively accomplish assignments, including delegation of tasks as necessary to the crew
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and 14 CFR part 39. 43, 65, 91, 125, and 145
  • Ability to make proper maintenance record entries in aircraft logs and records for aircraft approval for service return
  • Obtain a DoD and/or DOJ Security Clearance as required
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Maintain a valid US Passport and the appropriate vaccinations required for international travel
  • May travel up to 25% of the time
  • Must possess a set of personal hand tools adequate for performing aircraft maintenance and inspections
