About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Speech Language Pathologist to provide in-patient, out-patient, and/or neighborhood clinic services to children with various communication disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric speech therapy and be proficient in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care services, including screening, assessment, evaluation, treatment, and home programming for children with feeding and swallowing disorders, articulation, voice, resonance, fluency, receptive/expressive language disorders, hearing loss, and the need for AAC devices.
  • Engage in direct consultation and collaboration with physicians, nurses, other professionals, clinics, and agencies within Cook Children's Health Care System and the community.
  • Document and correspond with department and system policies.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in speech/language pathology, communication disorders, or related field.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Understands broad cultural aspects of native Spanish-speaking families and ability to relate to diverse cultural and ethnic populations.
  • Must meet Spanish proficiency levels defined by Cook Children's Health Care System and measured by objective and nationally recognized oral language, reading, and writing tests.
  • CPR-BLS within 30 days of employment.
  • State license or eligible for state licensure.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology, or eligible for application upon completion of Clinical Fellowship Year and must be obtained within 12 months of hire to maintain employment at Cook Children's.
