Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse I to join our team at the Texas Health & Human Services Commission. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse I, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine vocational nursing work, including administering medications and treatments, and performing basic and routine nursing tasks.
  • Work under the direction and moderate supervision of a Registered Nurse, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Assist other nursing staff in acclimating and orienting new LVNs to nursing functions at the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including actively participating in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a LVN program.
  • Experience working or volunteering directly with persons with mental illness preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice as a licensed vocational nurse in the state of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
