This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a skilled and detail-oriented individual to maintain the physical infrastructure of New Mexico Highlands University. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment, and will work closely with the facilities management team to identify and address any maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment, including painting, carpentry, and grounds work.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate a variety of equipment, including forklifts, lift gates, platforms, and moving trucks.
- Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the university's grounds, including mowing, trimming, and pruning vegetation, and performing other tasks as needed.
- Snow Removal: Remove snow from university buildings and grounds, and apply salt as needed to ensure safe access.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records of shop supplies and equipment.
- Communication: Interact professionally with the public, and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Experience: Three years of paid maintenance-related work or three years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and turf equipment operations, ability to follow and understand specific routine verbal and written instructions and procedures, and ability to safely and efficiently operate mechanical equipment.
- Physical Demands: Lifting 0 to 50 pounds frequently, standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, lifting greater than 50 pounds with assistance occasionally, pushing greater than 50 pounds with assistance occasionally, and pulling greater than 50 pounds with assistance occasionally.
- Exposure to Hazardous Materials: May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and materials.
- Work Environment: Work in dirty/dusty conditions frequently, work around fumes and odors frequently, work in loud conditions frequently, work in noisy conditions occasionally, work in wet and humid environments occasionally, work in extreme temperatures occasionally, work in smoky conditions occasionally, work in poorly lit areas occasionally, and work on elevated heights occasionally.
$15.75 per hour.
