Joby Aviation is on the lookout for a dedicated Process Improvement Specialist to become a vital part of our Powertrain & Electronics Manufacturing Engineering team. This role focuses on recognizing and executing strategies to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency within our production lines. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in driving process improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment, coupled with a strong enthusiasm for mentoring and the ability to engage with team members effectively.
Responsibilities- Plan and lead training sessions on lean manufacturing principles for team members.
- Spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency across manufacturing lines.
- Implement lean methodologies in various areas including production planning, material flow, and assembly processes.
- Develop Material and Information Flow Charts (Value Stream Maps) to pinpoint waste and identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist in the development and execution of the Floor Management Development System (FMDS) alongside shop floor leadership.
- Conduct in-person training sessions utilizing established curricula.
- Perform operational efficiency assessments of current manufacturing areas and organize kaizen events based on real-world data.
- Promote and implement 5S practices throughout manufacturing areas in collaboration with local leadership.
- Showcase the benefits of single-piece flow and just-in-time methodologies through workshops and simulations.
- Quantitatively illustrate how lean principles contribute to reduced lead times, enhanced efficiency, and improved quality.
- Collaborate with department heads and team leaders to align training and workshop schedules with specific team requirements.
- Work closely with the Learning & Development team to remain informed about updates to training materials.
- Stay current on training techniques, presentation skills, and the evolving products/services of the company.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of Toyota production system principles through collaboration with our partners.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to refine training delivery skills.
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience in Continuous Improvement.
- Knowledge and experience with the Toyota Production System (TPS) or lean production systems.
- Experience in technical training, preferably in aerospace maintenance or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various training software.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to different company locations.
- Outstanding presentation and public speaking abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
