Job Summary

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this position serves in various capacities within the pharmacy department. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of medications for patient use, perform computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions, maintain inventory levels, and assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing medications for patient use, including oral and parenteral medications, according to established procedures.
  • Perform computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions to ensure accurate and timely processing of medication orders.
  • Maintain inventory levels of medications and supplies to ensure adequate stock and minimize waste.
  • Assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas.
  • Prepare claims for reimbursement and obtain authorizations for prescription medications dispensed from the department's outpatient pharmacies according to established procedures.
  • Perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties.
  • Coordinate work assignments, schedules, and provide coaching and mentoring to other staff members.
Requirements
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Two to five years of previous pharmacy technician experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
  • Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
  • Strong detail and organizational skills to sort, file, and retrieve information.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Bilingual.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Compensation

The annual full pay range for this position is $52,388 - $65,146, with an hourly equivalent of $31.20. Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs.
