Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant II Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare teams in an outpatient clinic setting. This role requires a strong understanding of medical procedures and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collects patient data, including vital signs and medical history.
  • Assists providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
  • Administers medications under provider direction.
  • Performs tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under provider direction.
  • Reviews patient records to determine routine health screenings.
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Provides patient education and instructions.
  • Assists with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
  • Answers clinic phone and assists with in-basket tasks.

Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant certification from a recognized organization.
  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Work Environment:

This role is employed by UNC Physicians Network Group Practices, a private, for-profit subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
