St. Croix Health is seeking a part-time (0.6 FTE) Med/Surg Staff Registered Nurse. This role involves working both day (7 am - 7:30 pm) and night shifts (7 pm - 7:30 am), with a schedule that includes every third weekend and holiday.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Staff Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering professional nursing care by supporting, planning, directing, communicating, and evaluating direct patient care across all age groups. This role requires proficiency in the nursing process, contributing to assessments, developing care plans, and evaluating nursing interventions.
Essential Duties- Deliver Comprehensive Patient Care
- Administer medications and monitor for reactions or side effects.
- Document patients' medical information and vital signs accurately.
- Observe and report any changes in patients' conditions.
- Adjust treatment plans based on patient responses.
- Oversee all aspects of patient care, including dietary and physical activity considerations.
- Recommend appropriate treatments, including physical therapy and other therapeutic procedures.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
- Manage pain relief and sedation through various interventions.
- Perform emergency medical procedures as necessary.
- Diagnose conditions that may lead to rapid deterioration.
- Evaluate the impact of illnesses on patients' overall health and quality of life.
- Follow established nursing standards and processes to ensure high-quality care.
- Exhibit knowledge of infection control practices.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in clinical situations.
- Document all relevant patient care data in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to manage patient care.
- Coordinate with team members to implement and evaluate care plans.
- Provide instruction on health education and disease prevention.
- Assess the needs of patients and their families.
Education & Licensure:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin required.
Certifications:
- BLS certification required upon hire.
Experience:
- Prior experience in acute care settings preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for prolonged periods.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
