Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Works Crew Supervisor to join our team at the City of Reno. As a key member of our Maintenance and Operations department, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of staff responsible for maintaining and repairing the city's infrastructure, including sewer lines, storm water conveyance, and other related systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assign work to staff responsible for maintenance, repair, and alteration of city infrastructure
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing maintenance and repair services
  • Participate in the development of goals and objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Provide training and guidance to staff
  • Monitor work sites and ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion
  • Prepare specifications for and administer maintenance contracts with private contractors
  • Maintain flow of information for the computerized maintenance management system
  • Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities
Requirements
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in public works maintenance and repair or a related field
  • Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of city streets, facilities, equipment, and/or vehicles, including one year of lead supervisory experience
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
