Job Summary

The Industrial Safety Specialist will serve as a key point of contact between the Plasma Science and Technology Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Division at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. This role requires a strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and consultation to various departments and teams within the laboratory.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and develop controls to mitigate risks.
  • Participate in incident reviews and investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and lead cross-functional teams to assess complex operations and equipment.
  • Manage assigned programs, including permit-required confined spaces, powered industrial vehicles, and hot work.
  • Conduct physical inspections of work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as occupational safety or a related science or engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a laboratory or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOE, and other relevant regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Working Conditions

The Industrial Safety Specialist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with occasional work outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds, as well as wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
