About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team in Washington DC or Virginia Beach, VA. As a key member of our Transportation Team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems for various facilities, including transit, industrial, and commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct electrical engineering and design work for a range of facilities, including transit, industrial, and commercial structures.
  • Prepare comprehensive design criteria documents, calculations, drawings, and specifications for various electrical systems, such as power distribution, standby power, lighting, communications, fire alarm, security, and specialized systems.
  • Travel to customer facilities to conduct surveys while representing the company in a professional manner.
  • Evaluate existing facility electrical systems and provide independent, data-driven technical recommendations to management team and clients through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Perform feasibility studies related to microgrid and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) implementations to support sustainability and resilience.
  • Develop designs for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • Develop engineer's cost estimates for electrical systems.
  • Act as the engineer-of-record for design documents and reports covering electrical systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide support during construction activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, or Microstation, as well as a strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must demonstrate expertise in the application of the National Electrical Code.
  • A broad range of experience, including facility surveys, reports, feasibility studies, design, specifications, cost estimating, construction support, and supervision of less experienced engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • A Professional Engineering (P.E.) license with eligibility for reciprocity in other states is preferred.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $95,000.00- $169,290.00

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
