Logistics Counsel Job DescriptionCrystal Equation Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Logistics Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics services.
Key Responsibilities:- Draft and Negotiate Legal Documents: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents related to logistics services, including warehouse management agreements and transportation agreements.
- Internal and External Communication: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties, including insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
- Claims Analysis: Analyze collected data to determine claim validity and coverage, and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Legal Advice: Provide expert legal advice to internal clients on claims and complaints, and identify legislative and regulatory changes that may impact our operations.
- Contract Interpretation: Act as the internal subject matter expert on contracts, laws, and regulations related to logistics and claims.
- Representation and Communication: Represent the company in internal and external meetings, and communicate effectively with third-party bodies.
- Reporting and Analysis: Develop and distribute key reports and analyses, including claim reports and ad hoc reports for management.
- Compliance and Training: Promote legal compliance and best practices across the business, and deliver training and training materials to the business on key legal areas.
- Contract Review and Negotiation: Work within company guidelines to review, analyze, and negotiate contractual agreements with customers, shippers, consignees, or carriers.
- Claims Resolution: Escalate and coordinate with External Claims Adjusters to resolve claims issues, and develop and implement claims litigation strategy.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Active Texas Bar License: Must be an active member of the Texas bar in good standing.
- Relevant Experience: At least 6 years' relevant legal working experience, particularly in trucks/trailers, cargo/freight damages, property damages, maritime claims, disputes, and insurance.
- Reporting and Analysis: Able to produce reports to support findings and analyses.
- Organizational and Communication Skills: Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Teamwork and Customer Service: Self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and high energy, able to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based applications, as well as claims platforms.
- Travel and Work Location: Up to 10% travel throughout the U.S., with a hybrid work arrangement (WFH + Onsite: TX office Min. 3 days).
