Job Summary

The School of Professional Studies at New York University is seeking a skilled Academic Advisor to support students in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS). The successful candidate will have a caseload and work collaboratively with a team to advise students on academic programs, provide information on curriculum and degree progress, and assist with registration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise students on academic programs and provide information on curriculum and degree progress
  • Assist students with registration and course selection
  • Help students make informed decisions about their academic and professional goals
  • Interpret policies and facilitate access to university resources
  • Process transfer credit evaluations
  • Participate in admissions events and additional administrative duties
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in student advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to advise and provide solutions to problems
  • Ability to supervise staff
  • Proficiency using computer software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and social media platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration or a similar degree
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency and/or familiarity with Peoplesoft software
  • Knowledge of student development and career development theories
