Key Responsibilities:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Acute Care is responsible for delivering patient care to a designated group of individuals, adhering to the comprehensive care plan established by the healthcare team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will utilize your knowledge and skills to care for patients with acute health conditions, including those requiring cardiac, medical, surgical, and post-critical care. Typical patients will present with minimal to moderate health risks, where care is largely routine and outcomes are generally predictable.

Ensuring a Safe Environment:

  • Execute essential technical skills and procedures required for your role safely, effectively, and in compliance with legal standards.
Applying the Nursing Process:
  • Prioritize patient care activities based on urgency, available resources, patient preferences, and departmental requirements.
  • Identify and manage potential health risks through proactive measures.
  • Provide rationale for clinical decisions based on established scientific principles and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of care plans for your assigned patients.
Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
  • Seek guidance and support when faced with challenges in patient care.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies to foster positive interactions and satisfaction among patients and team members.
  • Leverage available resources to address and resolve issues that require additional support.
Continuity of Care:
  • Initiate and maintain interventions to ensure safe and effective patient care, including medication management and patient education.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures within the hospital and department.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with guidelines.
Delegation:
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to team members based on patient care needs and individual competencies.
Qualifications:

Required:
1. Proficient computer skills
2. Strong communication abilities
3. Current CPR certification

Education and Experience Requirements:

Certification(s): CPR
Licensure(s): Unencumbered LPN Licensure in Louisiana (Required)
Experience: Minimum of one year in a related field (Preferred)

Bilingual/Spanish proficiency is preferred.
