Job Title: Recreation Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Therapist to join our Behavioral Health Program at CarolinaEast Medical Center. As a Recreation Therapist, you will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide therapeutic and educational activities for patients with psychiatric or substance abuse issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient outcomes and implement recreational therapy approaches
  • Provide therapeutic and educational activities using individual and group methods
  • Work with patients and families within an interdisciplinary team model
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with JCAHO and hospital standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation, or a concentration in therapeutic recreation from an accredited college/university
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CRTS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCRTC)
  • Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT) by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure (NCBRTL) or eligible to become an LRT
  • Experience working in behavioral health and/or substance use is preferred
  • Minimum of one-year experience as a Recreation Therapist
  • Proven capability to engage collaboratively and efficiently within a multidisciplinary treatment team framework
  • Ability to complete clinically significant documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Windows-based software applications

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year based on experience
