Vocational Education Specialist

We are seeking a talented Vocational Education Specialist to join our team at The GEO Group, Inc. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our inmates and detainees by providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a desire to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. As a Vocational Education Specialist, you will be responsible for creating a learning environment that allows our students to maximize their learning potential and achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction to inmates/detainees for various labor and/or technical skills through classroom instruction, demonstration, and practical exercises.
- Maintain records including testing, daily offender work, attendance, and general record-keeping.
- Assess educational needs of inmates, develop lesson plans to address those needs, including individualized assignments and training.
- Administer, score, and interpret examinations and proficiency indicators.
- Counsel students concerning their performance, behavior, and personal problems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or high school diploma/equivalency and five (5) years relevant wage-earning work experience required.
- Two (2) years teaching experience required.
- Valid teaching certification from the state Department of Education or comparable authority required.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary of $37,523.00 per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, paid holidays, health insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and more.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently: lift or carry up to 10 lbs.; bend, stoop, reach above shoulder level, walk, sit, or stand.
- Occasionally: lift or carry up to 20 lbs.; push or pull up to 40 lbs.
