Job Summary:

Southern Cancer Center is seeking a skilled Telephone Operator to join our team at Providence Hospital. Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer and Direct Calls: Courteously and efficiently answer all incoming calls, connecting callers with the correct extension and taking messages in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Triaging and Message Relay: Triaging calls, relaying messages, and responding to emergency and urgent calls from patients in a timely manner.
  • Operator Functions: Perform operator functions, including connecting and transferring calls, setting up conference calls, instructing users on telephone procedures, and reporting telephone and equipment malfunctions.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform clerical duties as assigned to maintain workflow in the department, including opening and closing the switchboard and managing the in-house paging system.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 0-3 years of experience, preferably in a medical setting.

Physical Demands:

Work may require sitting for long periods of time, stooping and bending/stretching for files and supplies. Requires occasional lifting of files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.
