Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team in the Outpatient Laboratory Service. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients of all ages, ensuring accurate identification, specimen integrity, and sample labeling.

Responsibilities
  • Collect venous, capillary, and line blood samples from patients of all ages for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
  • Provide expert instruction to patients on various specimen collection procedures.
  • Perform all processes and procedures according to established protocols.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification, specimen integrity, and sample labeling.
  • Interact with patients and colleagues in a professional, efficient, and cooperative manner.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and adapting to scheduling adjustments.
  • Collaborate with peers, provide and receive constructive feedback, and participate in training and mentoring new staff members.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving problems, and participating in special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a phlebotomy training program with a clinical rotation or 3 months of phlebotomy work experience.
  • Ability to complete 2 years in this role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
