Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Metrology Engineer to join our team at Spectrum Plastics Group, A DuPont Business. As a Metrology Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing CMM programs and inspection fixtures for production use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop CMM programs to ensure accurate and efficient measurement of parts and assemblies
  • Maximize the efficiency of CMM programs to reduce production time and costs
  • Design and implement CMM holding fixtures to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements
  • Validate CMM programs to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Work directly with toolmakers to design and build custom attribute gauging for production use
  • Train FAI inspectors on equipment use and operation
  • Perform statistical studies and report results to improve quality and efficiency
  • Develop, implement, and maintain CMM measurement programs to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Actively promote and drive a culture of safety in the workplace
  • Accurately perform and report layout inspection results for new, revised parts and assemblies
  • Perform statistical studies on components and gauging to improve quality and efficiency
  • Assist in performing CMM calibrations to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Create operator instructions describing the use of the CMM
  • Provide necessary CMM training to ensure operators are proficient in equipment use
  • Troubleshoot CMM measurement issues, including program or mechanical problems
  • Maintain and perform minor maintenance on gauges to ensure accuracy and reliability

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 7+ years of experience in the manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of programming experience with MCOSMOS and Calypso
  • 3+ years of programming experience with vision systems such as OGP and Micro-Vu
  • 5+ years of CAD experience with Solid Works and Pro E
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and Applied Dimensional Metrology
  • 3D Printing experience required
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
