Position Title Director of Marketing Location Abilene, Texas Department Athletics Employment Type Non-Exempt Fulltime Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of annual marketing strategies for intercollegiate athletics programs, aiming to boost attendance and enhance the game day atmosphere.
- Collaborate with Abilene Christian Sports Properties to execute and manage all corporate sponsorship agreements.
- Foster partnerships with campus stakeholders to coordinate home events that enrich the student experience.
- Provide guidance and oversight for assigned marketing personnel, including Marketing Assistants, Student Interns, and Volunteers.
- Direct the formulation and execution of annual marketing strategies for intercollegiate athletics, focusing on attendance growth and improved game day experiences.
- Act as the primary marketing liaison for Men's Basketball, Tennis (Men's and Women's), Golf (Men's and Women's), Cross Country/Track and Field (Men's and Women's), and the secondary contact for Football and Baseball.
- Create comprehensive marketing strategies for all athletics programs, applying best practices to enhance the game day experience, including sport-specific marketing plans and fan engagement initiatives.
- Oversee the game day production to ensure a seamless execution of events.
- Enhance the visibility of athletics events within the campus and the broader community.
- Collaborate with the Creative Services team to generate content for various audiences.
- Assist with ticket operations to drive ticket sales and revenue.
- Work alongside the Media Relations team to effectively communicate the narrative of ACU Athletics.
Collaborate with Abilene Christian Sports Properties to implement and fulfill all corporate sponsorships.
- Partner with the General Manager of Abilene Sports Properties to create in-game features and promotions for corporate sponsors.
- Assist in the fulfillment and execution of sold sponsorship inventory during home events.
- Develop strategies to maximize marketing trade and in-kind contributions to enhance promotional efforts.
- Ensure that all corporate sponsorship commitments are fulfilled.
Build relationships with campus partners to collaborate on home events aimed at enhancing the student experience.
- Serve as a liaison to the campus community to cultivate partnerships that enhance student engagement at athletics events.
- Develop and implement a campus advertising strategy to raise awareness and maximize attendance at home athletics events.
- Utilize campus resources to strengthen marketing and promotional efforts directed at students.
- Conduct research on best practices and implement innovative ideas to engage the student body, leading to increased attendance at home events.
Provide leadership and direction for assigned marketing staff, including Marketing Assistants, Student Interns, and Volunteers.
- Recruit, train, and supervise marketing staff to ensure a high-quality game day experience.
- Delegate responsibilities among staff to ensure the successful execution of annual plans and smooth event operations.
- Prepare pre-event marketing summaries, post-event evaluations, and staff performance assessments.
- Deliver contest reports, season summaries, and annual evaluations to the Senior Associate AD for Brand Development and Fan Experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field.
- Two to three years of experience in athletic marketing or fan engagement.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for creating and presenting marketing plans and promotional materials.
- Strong self-motivation and organizational skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with students and community members.
- Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
- Ability to interpret and review manuals, reports, and marketing proposals.
- Proficiency in MS Office and social media platforms.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Basic understanding of NCAA Division I athletics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Christian beliefs and values.
- Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field.
- Experience in managing student staff.
- Knowledge of creating marketing materials and concepts for an athletic department.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to work long hours and spend extended periods typing on a computer.
- Extended periods of walking and climbing stairs.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to move tables and chairs for event setup.
- Possible exposure to varying weather conditions.
