ROLE: Senior DSP Software Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and evaluating audio signal processing algorithms tailored for resource-limited hardware platforms, in alignment with the specifications provided by the broader acoustics and firmware engineering teams.
  • Implementing scalable and adaptable DSP algorithms using high-level programming languages such as C, Python, and Matlab, alongside low-level languages like fixed-point assembly.
  • Customizing DSP algorithms to maximize performance based on the hardware capabilities, whether they support floating-point or fixed-point arithmetic.
  • Developing solutions to address precision challenges typically faced when executing audio processing on fixed-point hardware.
  • Utilizing your expertise in DSP techniques, including correlation, pitch detection, frequency transformations, and noise shaping, to implement effective DSP features.
  • Applying mathematical principles and DSP knowledge to enhance algorithm efficiency.
  • Examining filter structures and related kernels to boost execution speed, conserve memory, and facilitate vectorized implementations of DSP algorithms.
  • Creating memory maps for DSP applications, balancing execution speed with memory requirements for C implementations.
  • Identifying and leveraging hardware capabilities to optimize software performance during runtime.
  • Planning and executing software feature deliveries, informed by a solid understanding of the underlying hardware and its interconnections.
  • Profiling algorithm implementations using available development tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Developing methods to assess resource consumption, aiding other hardware teams in power management decisions.
  • Supporting QA teams by generating stimulus signals and test cases for integration and validation testing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline, coupled with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the offered or a related position.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A solid understanding of signal processing fundamentals.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and testing algorithms to address technical challenges in audio processing.
  • Proficiency in software design for both fixed-point and floating-point DSP platforms.
  • Familiarity with C compilers and programming experience in fixed-point assembly, C, Python, and Matlab.
  • Experience in profiling, optimizing, tuning, and debugging embedded DSPs to meet MIPS and memory targets for low-power platforms.
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
