ROLE OVERVIEW:

The ideal candidate will oversee the evaluation of all incoming product shipments within designated categories, as well as monitor the quality of items stored in our facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess products in accordance with company and regulatory standards, maintaining essential inspection and rejection documentation. Determine the acceptance or rejection of products based on various factors including condition, weight discrepancies, damage during transit, quality grade, temperature, and other criteria. Authority to reject products that do not meet established standards. Communicate product quality issues to procurement staff as needed. Receive training on the ripening process of specific produce items. Generate reports on warehouse conditions as required. Coordinate shipping schedules for items at varying maturity levels, providing instructions to warehouse teams. Analyze and report on financial losses due to spoilage, offering recommendations for minimizing waste. Keep detailed logs of spoilage incidents, including insights on overstocking, poor sales performance, and subpar product quality. Prepare monthly and quarterly summaries for management review. Ensure that staff are properly trained in the correct handling, storage, rotation, and selection of produce for distribution. Provide daily updates to shipping teams regarding outgoing product lots. Availability to work on weekends is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in food production or retail produce sectors. Experience in harvesting, packing, or warehouse inspections is advantageous. Familiarity with retail produce standards, along with USDA and FDA inspection experience is beneficial. Strong leadership skills and the ability to engage with a diverse workforce. Self-motivated with a positive outlook, capable of adapting to changing priorities. High initiative and creativity, coupled with excellent communication abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic understanding of statistical analysis is a plus. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all organizational levels. Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The role involves frequent movement within a warehouse setting with temperatures ranging from 55 to 30 degrees. Extended periods of sitting may be required for desk or computer tasks. Use of calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment is part of the daily routine. Physical activities such as stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
