Material Handling Specialist

IG Personnel is actively looking for dedicated Material Handling Specialists to enhance our operational team. We offer both day and evening shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess job orders to identify specific material handling needs.
- Transport materials from storage or work areas to assigned locations using powered equipment (such as LP Sit-down and Electric Standup forklifts) or manually when necessary.
- Execute picking and packing tasks efficiently.
- Conduct cycle counts and generate necessary reports.
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail when selecting non-standard components.
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, shelves, or vehicles.
- Apply strapping, bracing, or padding to secure materials and prevent damage during transit.
- Document and record units moved or handled; attach identification tags or labels to materials/products.
- Construct crates and pallets for storage or shipment of materials/products.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, material handling equipment, and tools.
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
- Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to maintain physical condition for frequent lifting, carrying, standing, sitting (operating forklift), walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting.
- Work at heights up to 15 feet.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
Work Environment:
- Work setting includes metal fabrication/assembly areas and indoor/outdoor storage locations.
- Required personal protective equipment includes safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
Qualifications:
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to interpret job requirements, shop drawings, and blueprints.
- Proficient in operating industrial equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Understanding of occupational hazards and adherence to safe work practices.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years in material handling or forklift operation is required.
- Familiarity with Stand Up forklifts and RF Scan Gun operation is preferred.
- Education: Related technical training (high school or beyond) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
