Position Overview:

The successful candidate will exhibit a strong commitment to teaching and enhancing the success of a diverse student body. Faculty members are tasked with creating educational and assessment materials that align with the philosophy and framework of the program, as well as with the standards set by relevant accreditation and licensure bodies. It is essential for the faculty member to maintain a current OEMS or NREMT license/certification and possess expertise in emergency medical services.

Join our CAAHEP-accredited Paramedicine Program. We are seeking a qualified full-time faculty member to train the next generation of Emergency Medical Services professionals. This role involves teaching courses in various settings, including the classroom, skills lab, and simulation laboratory, within both the EMT and Paramedicine Programs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in utilizing electronic learning platforms to enhance student engagement and collaborate effectively with a diverse team of faculty, staff, and students.

This instructor will adhere to faculty responsibilities as outlined by the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services and the Committee on Accreditation of Emergency Medical Service Providers. The candidate must show an appreciation for, and sensitivity to, a rich and diverse academic environment, inclusive of individuals from various social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as those with differing abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a full-time teaching load that may include courses in the EMT and Paramedicine Programs, encompassing classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulation-based instruction;
  • Develop syllabi and curricula for lectures, labs, and simulations that address course and program learning outcomes;
  • Deliver instruction effectively in traditional, hybrid, and/or online formats;
  • Serve as an academic advisor to students and maintain regular office hours;
  • Engage in College, Division, and Program governance, including participation in various committee meetings;
  • Participate in the assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
  • Ensure a safe environment during skills training and evaluation sessions;
  • Utilize technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and enhance classroom learning;
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain teaching excellence;
  • Complete necessary documentation required by the program and accreditation agencies;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Current, active MA and/or NREMT Paramedic certification in good standing;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience within the last ten years as a Paramedic providing EMS care;
  • Any associate degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience, with a commitment to complete an associate degree within 1.5 years;
  • Current AHA, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution;
  • Teaching experience in EMS, including EMTs, Paramedics, first responders, or other healthcare-related fields;
  • Commitment to Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Availability to teach evening courses;
  • Current Massachusetts EMS Instructor/Coordinator credential;
  • Current NRP provider and instructor credential;
  • Demonstrated strength in teaching both introductory and advanced EMT and paramedic skills;
  • Must be current in all areas of prehospital care and operations for instructing students in various settings.
Additional Information:

Salary Range: $65,000- $71,000, commensurate with education and experience as per the collective bargaining agreement.
