Job Summary

The School of Education at Houston Christian University seeks a highly qualified Academic Leader in Education to join our faculty. As a Professor of Education and Development, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Childhood Education, Literacy, and/or Special Education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop curriculum for undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Childhood Education, Literacy, and/or Special Education.
  • Advise students on academic and professional matters.
  • Participate in University committees and contribute to the development of academic programs.
  • Mentor and supervise students in clinical settings.
  • Stay current with best practices in education and incorporate them into your teaching and research.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field.
  • At least 18 credit hours at the master's level or higher in Early Childhood and/or Literacy, and/or Special Education.
  • Minimum five years of public or private school teaching experience in the U.S. in K-12.
  • Texas certification or equivalent certification in Early Childhood, EC-6 Elementary Education/Literacy and/or Special Education is preferred.
  • Ability to articulate a vision for the role of education at HCU in light of the University's Christian identity, mission, and philosophy of higher education.
