Job Summary

Olympic College is seeking a qualified faculty member to teach Computer Information Systems in the Corrections Education program at the Washington Correctional Center for Women (WCCW) and Mission Creek Correctional Center for Women (MCCCW).

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a wide range of information technology courses, particularly those which prepare students to enter Technical Support.
  • Modify curriculum and learning activities to fit a learning environment where justice-involved students have limited access to networks.
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning activities.
  • Participate with department faculty in curriculum revision, program management, and research-related activities.
  • Interview and screen prospective students for the program.
  • Maintain competency assessment records and student progress accountability measures on all students enrolled in the assigned course sections.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, including daily documentation, tracking, and grade assignment.
  • Ensure that classroom/lab and equipment are in excellent condition and maintained.
  • Participate in meetings and training as required by the college and DOC.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Three years of successful experience working in the information technology field
  • Expertise in a wide range of information technology areas with expertise in Technical Support and Networking.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating the success of students who represent a broad range of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Adult Education, Education, Applied linguistics, or other appropriate field.
  • Three years of successful college teaching experience.
  • Curriculum development & evaluation experience.
  • Student advising and student recruitment experience.
  • Experience teaching in a correctional facility.
