We are seeking a skilled Behavior Intervention Technician to join our team at The Arc Erie County New York. As a Behavior Intervention Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities and their families in achieving their desired quality of life.
Job Summary:The Behavior Intervention Technician will assist with the behavioral services provided to individuals within our Residential, Day Habilitation, and Education Programs. This includes assessment, development, and monitoring of behavior support plans, as well as providing direct supervision to individuals and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinates with the Behavior Intervention Specialist and/or Coordinator of Behavior Services in the development of behavior support plans and programs.
- Intervenes during individuals' inappropriate and/or potentially injurious behaviors in the least restrictive manner possible.
- Supervises daily activities of individuals, providing assistance and training as needed.
- Monitors data collection and documentation to make necessary changes to behavior plans.
- Participates in regular supervision with Coordinator of Behavioral Services and department, clinical, and treatment team meetings.
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field and one year of experience working with the developmentally disabled population or similar population.
- OR Associate's Degree in Psychology or related field and two years of experience working with the developmentally disabled population or similar population.
- OR High School Diploma and three years of experience working with the developmentally disabled population or similar population.
- First Aid Certification, CPR, and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention-Revised training (SCIP) must be taken as provided by the agency within 90 days of hire and maintained.
All staff members will assure and demonstrate the promotion of fundamental rights and protections for the people we support. This includes practices that treat people with dignity and respect at all times, ensure safety, best possible health/well-being, and provide the person with continuity and personal security through the use of natural supports, positive relationships, and opportunities for integration in the community.
Staff members should also advocate and work toward assisting the people we support through person-centered planning to achieve the personal outcome goals that they have chosen by facilitating the plans and positive supports necessary to assist the person in progressing toward each outcome.

Good attendance is vital for the efficient and effective operation of quality programming and is an essential job function of this position.
