MNA-University (Massachusetts Nurses Association)Key Responsibilities:
1. Utilize the Nursing Process to deliver and manage patient care from admission to discharge, tailored to the developmental age of the patient population.
2. Perform patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
3. Develop and coordinate individual plans of care, including discharge planning.
4. Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical settings.
5. Delegate tasks appropriately to others, in accordance with job description and competency level.
6. Document patient care according to standard procedure.
7. Develop, implement, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others.
8. Ensure quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other healthcare providers.
9. Administer medications, perform treatments, therapies, and operate equipment according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with treatment and procedures as required or directed.
10. Participate in and support Nursing Governance activities.
11. Assume responsibility for professional growth and assist in education and development of staff.
12. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:
1. Comply with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
2. Attend various meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
3. Demonstrate the use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Comply with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respect diverse views and approaches, demonstrate Standards of Respect, and contribute to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.
6. Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
2. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit-specific certifications and competencies.
Preferred:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
