Military Construction Specialist

Combat engineers in the U.S. Army play a vital role in ensuring mission success by providing expertise in mobility, counter-mobility, survivability, and general engineering. They supervise, serve, or assist as a member of a team when tackling rough terrain in combat situations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Construct fighting positions, fixed/floating bridges, obstacles, and defensive positions.
- Place and detonate explosives for tactical purposes.
- Conduct route clearance operations to ensure safe passage.
- Prepare and install firing systems for demolition and explosives.
- Detect mines visually or with mine detectors.
Requirements:
- Be between the ages of 17–40.
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Submit to background and medical screening.
- Receive a passing score on the ASVAB.
Training and Skills:
- Basic demolitions training
- Explosive hazards awareness
- Wire obstacle construction
- Fixed bridge building
- Urban operations
- Heavy equipment operation
Helpful Skills:
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Perform strenuous physical activities over long periods.
- Interest in engineering.
- Enjoy working outdoors.
