Industrial Plant Safety Director

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Plant Safety Director to lead efforts in ensuring a safe and compliant working environment within our industrial facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial safety protocols, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities & Skills:
* Develop, implement, and continually improve comprehensive safety programs and policies tailored to the specific needs of the industrial plant.
* Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes to ensure the safety program remains current and effective.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations applicable to the industrial plant.
* Act as a point of contact for regulatory agencies, conducting audits, and addressing compliance issues promptly.
* Conduct regular risk assessments of plant operations, identifying potential hazards, and recommending measures to mitigate risks.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement risk reduction strategies and ensure timely corrective actions.
* Develop safety programs to set expectations for visitors.
* Promote a strong safety culture through communication, training initiatives, and continuous awareness campaigns.
* Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, corrective actions, OSHA compliance, required testing, and historical data related to employee reports of findings, etc.
* Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are trained and familiar with emergency procedures.
* Coordinate drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans.
* Conduct regular safety inspections of the industrial plant, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
* Collaborate with relevant departments to address and resolve safety deficiencies.
* Prepare and submit regular safety reports to management, summarizing key performance indicators, incident trends, and safety program effectiveness.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to safety activities.
* Train, facilitate, document, review, update, implement, and monitor compliance for JSAs.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master's degree and relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) are a plus.
* Proven experience as a Safety Manager in an industrial setting.
* In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
* Proficient in using safety management software and tools.
