Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Carle Health. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses in the provision of patient care, performing assigned patient care and unit maintenance activities.
  • Provide hygiene needs of assigned patients, including AM/PM care, oral hygiene, and perineal care.
  • Assist with nutritional needs, including tray distribution, setting up trays, and feeding patients.
  • Provide elimination needs, including Foley care, bowel movements, and bladder training.
  • Provide skin care, including turning, positioning, and recognizing and preventing skin breakdown.
  • Provide comfort measures, including proper positioning, back rubs, and oral care.
  • Assist with activity needs, including dangling, turning, and ambulating patients.
  • Perform measurements, including I&O, hemoccult, and TPR.
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, including completing assigned aspects of the admission process.
  • Perform unit maintenance duties, including cleaning, stocking, and organizing the unit.
Requirements
  • Completion of CNA coursework within the past 24 months, or successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program, or work experience as a CNA within the past 24 months, or successful completion of at least one semester of nursing clinical experiences, or documented relevant medical military training.
  • Ability to write, read, comprehend, and speak fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
  • Multicultural sensitivity.
